Integrating the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS) M&E Framework into the Voluntary National Reviews of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
2026 High Level Political Forum – Voluntary National Review Lab
The VNR Lab will provide an opportunity for Small Island Developing States to exchange experiences and identify practical approaches to strengthening coherence between reporting on the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS and Voluntary National Review processes. In light of the close alignment between the ABAS Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals, the session will consider how existing VNR mechanisms, including national coordination structures, stakeholder consultations, and data collection processes, can be leveraged to support ABAS implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
The Lab will also examine how ABAS priorities, achievements, and challenges may be reflected in future VNRs, with a view to reducing duplication, minimizing reporting burdens, and enhancing the policy relevance of national reporting. The outcomes of the discussion will inform the development of living guidelines to support coordinated VNR and ABAS reporting, which will be annexed to the ABAS Toolkit and contribute to preparations for the ABAS Midterm Review.
