9:30 – 10:30      Plenary presentation of the annual report of the multidisciplinary Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence

Overview This segment will feature the first public presentation of the Preliminary Report by the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI (“AI Scientific Panel”). The two Co-chairs and seven members will unveil key findings of the scientific assessment of AI, developed by 40 global leading experts from academia, industry, civil society, and the technical community. This will provide the evidence base that the Global Dialogue on AI Governance can build on.
10:30 – 12:30    High-level governmental plenary segment: Harnessing the benefits of AI for all through inclusive and interoperable approaches

Overview This segment will encompass opening remarks and a procedural overview. It will then feature formal interventions from Member States delivered in 3-minute slots (or 5 minutes for Heads of States/Governments, Deputy Prime Ministers, Vice Presidents, and representatives delivering statements on behalf of groups) under an inscription-based format, followed by a summary and closing remarks by the AI Dialogue Co-Chairs. The segment would be open to relevant stakeholders to follow the discussion.
Objectives
  • Interventions would provide an opportunity to share national and regional perspectives, priorities, experiences and approaches, best practices and lessons learned related to artificial intelligence governance.
  • The segment would also allow Member States to outline expectations regarding international cooperation on artificial intelligence governance, while taking into account different national and regional contexts, priorities and approaches.
  • Its organisation would seek to support broad and meaningful participation by Member States, consistent with the format of the segment.
  • Member States may also wish, where appropriate, to deliver statements on behalf of regional groups or other groupings to help reflect common perspectives.
12:30 – 13:30    High-level multi-stakeholder plenary segment: Harnessing the benefits of AI for all through inclusive and interoperable approaches

Overview This segment will combine participatory and interactive elements, beginning with 30 minutes for audience interventions from the floor to invite diverse sectoral perspectives on harnessing the benefits of AI for all. It will be followed by a 30-minute moderated roundtable discussion among high-level stakeholders representing diverse sectors and perspectives.
Objectives
  • This session will facilitate moderated exchange among high-level participants from governments, industry, civil society, academia, technical community, international organisations.
  • The session will provide an opportunity to present perspectives, experiences, new initiatives and announcements, as well as practical opportunities for partnerships and cooperation initiatives relevant to artificial intelligence governance.

Overview This session will be structured around a 65-minute panel discussion featuring high-level stakeholders sharing experiences and lessons learned. It will also include a 10-minute segment for the launch of the UN AI Resource Hub: Capacity Building and Fellowship Activities with time reserved for audience interventions from the floor.
