Measures to eliminate international terrorism 每 Agenda Item 112

The Committee continued its consideration of agenda item 112.

Statements were made by the representative of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the observer of the Observer State of Palestine, and the representatives of Portugal, the Gambia, the Islamic Republic of Iran (on behalf of a Like-minded Group of States: Belarus, Burundi, China, Cuba, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Islamic Republic of Iran, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, Russian Federation, Uganda and Zimbabwe), Malaysia, South Africa, Slovenia, Cameroon, Morocco, Nigeria, Guatemala, Israel, China, the Maldives, the Syrian Arab Republic, Senegal, Brazil, C?te d'Ivoire, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Armenia, Ethiopia, Mexico, Panama, Yemen, Singapore, Uganda, Indonesia and Uruguay.

The Chair, H.E. Ms. Trishala Simantini Persaud (Guyana), opened the meeting and made a statement.

Composition of the Bureau

The Bureau is composed as follows: Chair: H.E. Ms. Trishala Simantini Persaud (Guyana); Vice-Chairs: Ms. Mantsho Annastacia Motsepe (South Africa), H.E. Mr. Andrii Melnyk (Ukraine), and Ms. Elisa Johanna S. De Raes (Belgium), and Rapporteur: Mr. Abdulaziz Fadala M. A. Al-Sulaiti (Qatar).

Organization of work and establishment of working groups

The Chair made a statement.

The Chair drew the attention of the Committee to the note by the Secretariat on the allocation of items to the Sixth Committee () and the organization of work ().

The Committee adopted its programme of work on the basis of document .

The representative of the Russian Federation spoke.

Pursuant to General Assembly of 15 December 2025, the Committee established a working group on criminal accountability of United Nations officials and experts on mission to continue the consideration of the report of the Group of Legal Experts, in particular its legal aspects, taking into account the views of Member States and also noting the inputs by the Secretariat. The Working Group shall be open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies or of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Committee elected Mr. Marvin Ikondere (Uganda) as the Chair of the Working Group.

Pursuant to General Assembly of 15 December 2025, the Committee established a Working Group on the scope and application of the principle of universal jurisdiction to continue to undertake a thorough discussion of the scope and application of universal jurisdiction. The Working Group shall be open to all Member States and relevant observers to the General Assembly will be invited to participate in the work of the Working Group. The Committee elected Mr. Luis Arturo Palmieri N迆?ez (Guatemala) as the Chair of the Working Group.

Pursuant to General Assembly of 15 December 2025, the Committee established a Working Group on measures to eliminate international terrorism with a view to finalizing the process on the draft comprehensive convention on international terrorism as well as discussions on the item included in its agenda by Assembly concerning the question of convening a high-level conference under the auspices of the United Nations. The Working Group shall be open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies or of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Committee elected Amb. Jayantha Chandrasiri Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) as the Chair of the Working Group.

Revitalization of the work of the General Assembly 每 Agenda Item 124

The Committee began its consideration of agenda item 124.

Statements were made by the representatives of the European Union (also on behalf of its member States (the candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, the Republic of Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Georgia, as well as Armenia, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and the United Kingdom aligned themselves with this statement)), Australia (on behalf of Canada, Australia and New Zealand (CANZ)), El Salvador, C?te d'Ivoire, Philippines, Cuba, Romania, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mexico, Switzerland and the Russian Federation.
