Clean Energy Solutions Advanced during UN General Assembly High-Level Week

22¨C24 September 2026
This year the UN General Assembly High-Level Week proved to be a crucial platform for moving forward coordinated action and strategic solutions for energy access and transition. The UN Secretary-General's Climate Summit 2026 played a key role, including its solutions dialogues on energy transition and other issues.
The Secretary-General launched two major clean energy initiatives supported by over a dozen UN-Energy members and partners from across the UN system and beyond: a Global Grids Accelerator and a Country Support Mechanism on Critical Energy Transition Minerals. For the first time at the UN General Assembly, a High-Level Event on Clean Cooking gathered world leaders, development partners and the private sector.
The 2026 ENERGYNOW SDG7 Action Forum on 24 September brought together officials, entrepreneurs and activists working on energy access and transition to discuss how best to accelerate action. The 2026 Energy Compacts Annual Progress Report was also launched, showing major results on access, renewables and other areas at the five-year mark.
