We meet at a time of profound global change.
Digital cooperation now affects every aspect of development ¡ª from economic growth to social inclusion and environmental sustainability.
Last December, Member States concluded the twenty-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society.
That process reaffirmed a clear global consensus and shared commitment.
Digital transformation must serve people; it must be inclusive, and it must be rooted in cooperation.
This vision aligns closely with the work of my Department, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Guided by the 2030 Agenda, UN DESA supports Member States and contributes to the UN system¡¯s efforts to advance sustainable development.
We bring countries together to address shared economic, social, and environmental challenges, translating global commitments into national action.
We provide support to Member States in three main ways.
Through intergovernmental support, we help countries find common ground.
Through research and analysis, we develop evidence-based solutions and policy insights.
Through capacity building, we strengthen institutions and skills.
Digital transformation is a key enabler across all these areas.
This means ensuring that new and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, are governed and managed responsibly.
We must build trust, and ensure that these tools serve people, protect the planet, and advance sustainable development.
Partnerships are essential.
The Digital Cooperation Organization is a vital partner, providing a crucial platform for dialogue, cooperation and shared progress.
UN DESA looks forward to continuing our collaboration with the Digital Cooperation Organization and its Members.
Together, we can advance inclusive, sustainable, and resilient development in the digital age.
