UN Palestinian Rights Committee Bureau\u202fcondemns the\u00a0order to\u00a0implement\u00a0the\u00a0eviction of Khan\u00a0al-Ahmar community\u202fin the\u00a0occupied\u00a0West Bank<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

New York,\u202f4\u202fJune 2026<\/span><\/b>\u202f\u2013<\/span>The Bureau of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People condemns the order signed by the Minister of Finance of Israel, Bezalel Smotrich, instructing the Israeli Civil Administration to begin proceeding with the eviction of the Palestinian community of Khan al-Ahmar in the so-called \u201cE1 area\u201d in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The eviction will heighten the risk of forced transfer of the civilian population, which is strictly prohibited under international law and amounts to a war crime.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee Bureau\u00a0<\/span>reiterates<\/span><\/a> its demand that Israel, the occupying Power, halt its so-called \u201cE1 settlement plan\u201d in the occupied West Bank, which includes the approval of plans for thousands of Israeli settlements units. The plan entrenches Israel\u2019s illegal occupation, advances annexation, unlawful under international law, and violates the integrity of the Occupied Palestinian Territory as an essential element of the Palestinian people\u2019s right to self-determination, as concluded by the\u00a0<\/span>International\u00a0Court\u00a0of Justice.\u00a0<\/span><\/a>It\u00a0should\u00a0be recalled that\u00a0in multiple\u00a0resolutions\u00a0the General Assembly\u00a0has\u00a0<\/span>stressed<\/span><\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0need for\u00a0the\u00a0respect for and preservation of the territorial unity, contiguity and integrity of all of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee Bureau\u00a0denounces the\u00a0<\/span>escalating\u00a0Israeli\u00a0settler\u00a0violence<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0impunity,\u00a0in which this order and the\u00a0settlement\u00a0expansion is taking place.\u00a0This is\u00a0Israel\u2019s\u00a0deliberate\u00a0and unlawful\u00a0policy\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0terror<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0consolidate\u00a0a system of\u00a0discrimination and domination. These acts\u00a0perpetuate the\u00a0Nakba of the Palestinian people\u00a0to this day.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee Bureau urges the\u00a0State of Israel\u00a0to\u00a0immediately\u00a0cease\u00a0all\u00a0illegal\u00a0settlement activities\u00a0in the\u00a0occupied\u00a0West Bank, including East Jerusalem,\u00a0and\u00a0to halt\u00a0all acts\u00a0of violence against\u00a0Palestinians.\u00a0The\u00a0Committee Bureau\u00a0calls\u00a0on\u00a0the international community\u00a0to take\u00a0concrete\u00a0actions and\u00a0steps to\u00a0ensure compliance by Israel with\u00a0its international obligations, including relevant UN resolutions.<\/span><\/p>\n
