{"id":314559,"date":"2026-01-02T15:34:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T20:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/?post_type=document&#038;p=314559"},"modified":"2026-01-05T15:44:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T20:44:31","slug":"secretary-general-2jan26","status":"publish","type":"document","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/secretary-general-2jan26\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspension of Non-Governmental Organization Operations in Occupied Palestinian Territory Risks Undermining \u2018Fragile\u2019 Ceasefire Gains, Secretary-General Warns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2 January 2026<\/p>\n<p><em>The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by the Israeli authorities\u2019 announcement to suspend the operations of several international non-governmental organizations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.<\/p>\n<p>He calls for this measure to be reversed, stressing that international non-governmental organizations are indispensable to life-saving humanitarian work and that the suspension risks undermining the fragile progress made during the ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>This announcement comes on top of earlier restrictions that have already delayed critical food, medical, hygiene and shelter supplies from entering Gaza.
