The following communication, concerning food supplies for Palestine, has been received from Mr. Fletcher-Cooke of the United Kingdom Delegation.<\/p><\/div>\n

My dear Bunche,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

May I refer to your letter of 29th April regarding Food Supplies<\/u> for Palestine.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2. I have now received the following information in reply to your enquiry relating to the supply of Sugar<\/u>:-<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t(i) The quantity of Sugar afloat on 26th April was 6750 tons.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(ii) The S.S. “Karnac”, carrying 2000 tons, is unloading half at Haifa and half at Beirut.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(iii) The S.S. “Albatross” is due to arrive at Haifa on 21st May with a cargo of 2250 tons.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

3. Further details are not at present available, but the Food Controller in Palestine was able to inform the representatives of the Jewish and Arab importers that the quantity of sugar already ordered would be sufficient until 1st August at the present rate of consumption.<\/p><\/div>\n
