Concerning Public Information Services in Palestine<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The following communication, concerning public information services and facilities in Palestine, has been received from Mr. Fletcher-Cooke of the United Kingdom Delegation.<\/p><\/div>\n

UNITED KINGDOM DELEGATION TO THE UNITED NATIONS<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Empire State Building, New York 1<\/p><\/div>\n

My dear Bunche,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

May I refer to my letter of the 22nd March with which was enclosed in formation in answer to Question 8 of the questionnaire received from Monsieur de Medina relating to public information services and facilities is Palestine.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2. I have now received the following information in reply to Question 9, which reads as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t“What facilities and equipment does the Palestine Administration now possess in the following categories:-\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(a) Sound recording and motion picture camera\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(b) Motion picture laboratories and photographic darkrooms\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(c) Mobile loud-speaker or visual information unites.”\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

3. The replies are as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(a) (i) All sound recording Palestine for Government Departments is put out on contract to private concerns.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(ii) The Public Information Office possesses the following equipment: –<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1 16mm. Bell & Powell Camera, with 3 lenses, Kinema size, clock type spring.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2 Projectors 35mm. sound Devry portables installed in cinema vans (2 15 cwt. Morris, on loan from the Army).\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t3 16mm. Projectors, Victor sound with loud-speaker and transformers.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 16 mm. silent projector – Agfa.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 35 mm. slide printing machine for Leica negatives.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Leica 35mm. slide projector.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

(iii) The Palestine Police have a mobile cinema consisting of 2 16 mm Victor projectors with all the necessary equipment <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(b) (i) The Public Information Office has a dark room complete with the following equipment: – <\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1 Vertical enlarger 13×18 cm\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Miniature enlarger for 629 negatives and 6×6 negatives\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

(ii) The Public Information Office also has the following photographic equipment:-<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1 Sanderson’s tropical camera 9×12 cm\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t6 Double plate holders\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Magazine for 12 plates with 2 lenses\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Schneider Xener 15 an 4.5 – with Comore and compound shutters.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Tella-Tessa 32 cm. 6.3 – with Comore and compound shutters\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Studio camera stand\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2 Medalist cameras No. 2 with coated lens\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Argo 45 mm. camera with flash gun.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t3 Watson document copying cameras. 35mm 200 ft. reels automatic focussing and winding\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

(iii) The Palestine Museum (which is under the direction of the Director of the Department of Antiquities) has the following equipment:-<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1 Camera 13×18 cms. Universal Jewel Ikon with 12 double plate and 3 lenses and a number of filters for scientific recording.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Camera Lanhoff 9×12 cms, with single plate holders a 15 cm.Tessa lens and 15 cm.Dalmayer with wide angle lens\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2 Medalistst cameras No. 2 with filters and flash gun.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t3 Bollicord cameras No.1 6×6 cm. and 1 Telle-Dalon Dalmayer for the 9×12 cm. camera.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2 Slide projectors for English end American else.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Aldid Epidinscope for prints and slide projection.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

Dark Room Equipment<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1 Horizontal enlarger from half plate downwards\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1 Ensign for 6×6 cm. negatives.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

(iv) The Palestine Police have a first-class photographic laboratory and dark room.<\/p><\/div>\n

(c) The Public Information Office has two loud-speakers attached to its mobile cinema equipment.<\/p><\/div>\n
