Consideration of draft of a second statement to be made by the Chairman of the Commission before the Ad Hoc Committee <\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

The Commission approved<\/i> the statement, with minor drafting changes.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Error in the text of the <\/u><\/span>Supplementary Report<\/u><\/a> (A\/1367\/Add.1) handed to the Press in the Middle East <\/u><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The PRINCIPAL SECRETARY referred to the memorandum which he had addressed to the members of the Commission, drawing their attention to the error which appeared in the text of the <\/span>Commission’s Supplementary Report<\/a> as handed to the press in the Middle East. He explained that a copy of the sixth draft had been sent by pouch to the Commission’s press officer in Jerusalem, and the final changes had been sent by cable, owing to the short time which remained before the release date. The error — which involved the last two sentences of paragraph 2 — had occurred when the cabled changes were transferred to the sixth draft.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Principal Secretary asked how the Commission wished the matter to be dealt with, bearing in mind the fact that at least one newspaper (the “Jerusalem Post”) had published the complete text containing the mistake.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Commission <\/span>decided<\/i><\/span> that the official text of the <\/span>Supplementary Report<\/a> should be communicated to all the newspapers who had received the incorrect text.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
