COMMISSION’S NEXT MEETINGS WITH THE DELEGATIONS<\/p><\/div>\n

The CHAIRMAN informed the Commission that all the delegations had now replied to the <\/span>Commission’s letter of 31 October 1951<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

With regard to the Israel communication (<\/span>IS\/77<\/a>), the Chairman had talked with Mr. Fischer, head of the Israel delegation, and had drawn his attention to the fact that the <\/span>communication<\/a> had not made any specific reference to the <\/span>Commission’s letter of 31 October<\/a>, and that the Commission therefore wondered whether it should be considered as a reply to that <\/span>letter<\/a>. Mr. Fischer had said that his<\/span> letter of 7 November<\/a> was in fact a reply to the <\/span>Commission’s letter of 31 October<\/a>; if that had not been made clear it was merely due to an oversight. The Chairman had then pointed out that no reply was given in the Israel communication to the first question contained in the <\/span>Commission’s letter<\/a>. Mr. Fischer had answered that his delegation was ready to examine the<\/span> proposals<\/a> with the Commission.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Mr. FISHER (Political Office) explained that the previous afternoon, as no reply had been received from the Jordan delegation, he had telephoned to Khulusi Bey Khairy, who had read to him the letter dated 12 November which the Commission had not at that time received. As the text had not seemed very clear to Mr. Fisher, he had asked whether it implied a positive reply and the answer had been affirmative. Khulusi Bey had said that his delegation was prepared to discuss all points of the <\/span>proposals<\/a> with the Commission and to offer its comments.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Mr. Fisher had inquired whether the Arab delegations were now ready to submit their comments, and had been told that they were ready at any time.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The CHAIRMAN felt that the Commission should hold meetings with the delegations as soon as possible in order to hear their views on its proposals.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

After some discussion, it was decided<\/i> that the Commission would meet first with the Israel delegation and then with the Arab delegations, and that both meetings should, if possible, take place on the same day. The Secretariat was requested to arrange with the various delegations for the meetings to take place, if possible, on the following day, 14 November.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

It was also <\/span>agreed<\/i><\/span> that consideration of the draft <\/span>report<\/a> should be postponed until after the meetings with the delegations.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
