NOTE BY THE SECRETARY-GENERAL<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>At the 99th and 112th plenary meetings of its thirty-seventh session, on 10 and 20 December 1982 respectively, the General Assembly adopted resolution 37\/86, entitled "Question of Palestine". 1<\/u>\/ In paragraphs 4 and 5 of resolution 37\/86 D, the General Assembly<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"Requests<\/u> the Security Council to discharge its responsibilities under the Charter and recognize the inalienable rights of the Palestinian Arab people, including the right to self-determination and the right to establish its independent Arab state in Palestine;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"Reiterates<\/u> its request that the Security Council take the necessary measures, in execution of the relevant United Nations resolutions, to implement the plan which, inter alia<\/u>, recommends that an independent Arab state shall come into existence in Palestine".\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

In paragraphs 4 and 7 of resolution 37\/86 E, the General Assembly<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"Urges<\/u> the Security Council to facilitate the process of Israeli withdrawal;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"Recommends<\/u> that the Security Council should take early action to promote a just and comprehensive solution to the question of Palestine".\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
