CABLEGRAM DATED 12 AUGUST 1948 FROM THE UNITED NATIONS MEDIATOR ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL CONCERNING THE DESTRUCTION OF THE LATRUN PUMPING STATION<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>Concerning my previous cablegram (<\/span>S\/961<\/a>), I have just been informed that, according to the first investigation, Arab irregulars were responsible for completely destroying by demolition charges during the night of 11-12 August, the Latrun Pumping Station.  An investigation is proceeding on this action which was made possible by lack of UN guards.  Under these circumstances, the Provisional Government of Israel has been authorized to postpone compliance with my decision concerning the withdrawal of Jewish lines in the Latrun sector which was also communicated to the Security Council in document S\/961.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
