EXERCISE OF THE INALIENABLE RIGHTS OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE<\/p><\/div>\n

ADDRESSED TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to refer to your letter dated 25 May 1979 <\/span>(S\/13349)<\/a> informing me that you were holding consultations with the members of the Security Council concerning the meeting of the Council on the question of Palestine.  You may recall that this meeting had been called for by the General Assembly in paragraph 8 of its <\/span>resolution 33\/28A<\/a>, which I had brought to the attention of the President of the Security Council in my letter dated 13 March 1979 <\/span>(S\/13164)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People this morning discussed this matter and concluded that the Security Council should resume consideration of the Committee's recommendations as soon as possible.  It would be relevant to draw your attention to the fact that considerable time has elapsed since these recommendations were last discussed by the Security Council at its <\/span>2041st meeting on 27 October 1977<\/a>, the meeting being adjourned after it had been agreed that the next meeting of the Council on this item would be fixed after consultations among members of the Council. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>It is also relevant to keep in mind that the General Assembly would expect to be informed of the action taken by the Security Council in pursuance of the Committee's recommendations, which were endorsed by the General Assembly in its <\/span>resolutions 31\/20<\/a>, <\/span>32\/40<\/a> and <\/span>33\/28<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
