1. The CHAIRMAN Blocked Arab accounts in Israel and the Arab States: report by the Committee (<\/span>Document Com.Gen.10<\/a>)<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

The Commission approved<\/u> the report of the General Committee.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Incident in the Jewish Quarter of Damascus<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The PRINCIPAL SECRETARY reported on his visit to the head of the Syrian delegation, in accordance with the decision taken by the Commission at its meeting the preceding day <\/span>(SR\/86<\/a>). The Principal Secretary explained that he had made it clear to Mr. Atassi that he was merely informing him of the protest lodged by the Israeli delegation with the Commission. Mr. Atassi had thanked the Commission for its information; he had no information, personally, regarding the incident. He considered it most deplorable that numerous people had been injured or killed, but in view of the fact that they were Syrian citizens, Mr. Atassi could not understand or admit any intervention by Israel in matters affecting Syrian citizens on the pretext that they were Jews.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The CHAIRMAN informed the Commission of his intention to go to Washington for a few days to consult with his Government on the state of the Lausanne negotiations.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Commission took the following decisions<\/u>:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1. To ask the Principal Secretary to prepare a note summarizing the proceedings of the repent private meetings.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2. To ask the three principal counsellors of the members of the Commission to draft questions to be submitted to the parties after approval by the Commission.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
