The CHAIRMAN informed the Israeli delegation that the present meeting would be the last to be convened by the Commission in New York. He announced the Commission’s decision to resume its work in Geneva on 16 January, with a study of the <\/span>Clapp report<\/a>, and to recommence official meetings with the Arab and Israeli delegations on 23 January. In view of the recent adoption of the Economic Survey Mission’s plan by the General Assembly, the refugee question would be the first subject to be taken up by the Commission, which would then begin mediation on certain specific points, in accordance with the charge laid upon it by the terms of the <\/span>resolution of 11 December 1948<\/a>. The Commission, as always, counted upon the good will and collaboration of the Israeli delegation for the success of its mission.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Mr. de BOISANGER added that the Commission did not intend to remain in Geneva indefinitely; it would eventually move either to the Middle East or possibly to Istanbul.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Mr. LAURIE (Israel) thanked the Chairman for his remarks. He would communicate the information to his Government and assumed that Israel would be represented when the Commission resumed meetings in Geneva.<\/p><\/div>\n
