Covering letter for the draft declaration concerning Holy Places, religious buildings and sites in Palestine for transmission to the Arab delegations and the delegation of Israel<\/u>.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Committee agreed<\/i><\/span> to request the Secretary, in accordance with the decision taken on that day at the <\/span>Commission’s 95th meeting<\/a>; to prepare the draft of a covering letter for the draft declaration concerning Holy Places, religious buildings and sites in Palestine, which would use the same terms as the <\/span>General Assembly’s resolution of 11 December 1948<\/a> and would lay stress on the fact that such undertakings would not in any way prejudge the final political and territorial settlement of the Palestine problem.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Draft terms of reference<\/a> of the United Nations representative in Jerusalem (Consideration of draft submitted by the French delegation).<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Committee approved<\/i><\/span> the draft submitted by the French delegation, as amended by the deletion of the two latter sentences of paragraph 3, and by the substitution in paragraph 4 of the words “That the functions ………….. shall terminate on the date on which the Commissioner of the United Nations appointed under the <\/span>Instrument<\/a> shall assume his functions in Jerusalem, or at such other time as the General Assembly or the Conciliation Commission shall provide” for the words the date on which the permanent international regime for the Jerusalem area enters into force”. Several other minor drafting changes were also made.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

The Committee agreed<\/i><\/span> furthermore to request that the consideration of the <\/span>draft terms of reference<\/a> of the United Nations representative in Jerusalem be placed on the agenda of the next meeting of the Commission.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
