Erez crossing <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>1 in<\/strong><\/span> 3<\/strong><\/span> patients denied<\/strong><\/span> or<\/strong><\/span> delayed Gaza exit:<\/strong><\/span> Of 2,15<\/span>6 patient applications submitted for permits to exit Gaza <\/span>through Erez checkpoint for hospital <\/span>appointments in May, 65.81% were approved. 219 patients (10.16%) were <\/span>denied, including 19 children and 19 elderly <\/span>persons over 60 years. 518 patients (24.03%) received no response <\/span>to their applications, including 138 children <\/span>and 53 elderly people over 60 (Palestinian District Liaison office in <\/span>Gaza).<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>High number<\/strong><\/span> of<\/strong><\/span> patients for security interview:<\/strong><\/span> 86 patients, among them 27 females, were requested for <\/span>General Security Services interviews at Erez <\/span>during May. One was approved. (page 6)<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>Companions hindered from obtaining permits:<\/strong><\/span> <\/strong><\/span>Approval <\/span>rates for patient companions' permit applications <\/span>dropped to 55%. (page 5)<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>Patient returning<\/strong><\/span> to<\/strong><\/span> Gaza arrested at Erez.<\/strong><\/span> <\/strong><\/span>(page 7)<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span>Humanitarian health workers face limited access through at Erez.<\/strong><\/span> <\/strong><\/span>(page <\/span>8) <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Rafah exit<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span>  <\/strong><\/span>2<\/strong><\/span>-days access<\/strong><\/span> to<\/strong><\/span> Egypt during May:<\/strong><\/span> <\/strong><\/span>According to Palestinian officials at Rafah terminal, the Rafah border terminal was open for 2 days during the month allowing 253 people who travelled for health reasons to cross to Egypt among them 18 patients transferred by ambulance. No medical delegates or medical aid entered Gaza through Egypt during the month.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Ministry of Health Referrals in April<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>Ministry of Health referred <\/span>2,192 patients <\/strong><\/span>in May to outside care with an estimated cost of <\/span>NIS 8,439,400. <\/strong><\/span>The top 5 needed procedures for Gaza patients were in oncology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, MRI and orthopedics.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
