SECRETARY-GENERAL COMMENDS MEETING IN JORDAN OF ISRAELI, PALESTINIAN NEGOTIATORS<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The following statement was issued on 3 January by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Secretary-General commends the Palestinian and Israeli negotiators for meeting in Jordan today and expresses his appreciation to His Majesty the King of Jordan, as well as Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, for facilitating this meeting in the framework of the 23 September Quartet <\/span>statement<\/a>.  Special Coordinator Robert Serry joined other Quartet envoys and the Quartet representative in Amman for this occasion.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Secretary-General encourages the parties to build on this meeting and to continue working to establish forward momentum towards a lasting peace.<\/p><\/div>\n
