New York, 24 September 2013<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Secretary-General met today with President Abbas. They discussed the ongoing negotiations between the parties and the role that the international community could play in support of the Middle East peace process in order to make tangible political progress towards the realization of the two-state solution. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

They also discussed the difficult situation on the ground in the occupied Palestinian territory and the vital need for the international community to unite to bolster the fiscal standing of the Palestinian Authority.<\/p><\/div>\n
