Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine. They discussed the situation in Gaza and the upcoming Cairo Conference on Palestine. The Secretary-General assured President Abbas of the United Nations&#8217; support for the reconstruction of Gaza and encouraged the President to remain steadfast in his commitment to the ceasefire negotiations. The leaders discussed the progress made during the ongoing intra-Palestinian talks in Cairo.
