Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with the President of Egypt<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Cairo, 22 July 2014<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

On Tuesday morning in Cairo, the Secretary-General met with the Egyptian President, H.E. Mr. Abdel Fattah al Sisi.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Secretary-General thanked the President for his leadership role in the current efforts to establish a cease-fire in Gaza.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

They both agreed on the need for an intensified concerted international effort to stop the fighting urgently and also focus on the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

They agreed to remain in close touch in the crucial phase in the days and hours ahead.<\/p><\/div>\n
