Syrian Students mobilize in support of Gaza<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

On 13<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> of January students in all government and UNRWA schools Syria stood together in a solemn show of support to their fellow students in Gaza who have died or who are suffering because of the conflict.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The campaign, 'For the Children of Gaza', has a very simple message; that the children of Syria say 'no' to violence and the unnecessary and wasteful loss of young life. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The school event aimed to provide young people with an opportunity to express their grief and frustration in a way that would draw greater international attention to the catastrophic humanitarian impact that this conflict is having on the people of Gaza.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The climax of the half-hour event was at precisely eighteen minutes past midday, when students across the country fell silent for one minute to remember those civilians who have lost their life in Gaza; eighteen was chosen as a poignant, stirring reminder that the conflict had now, tragically, moved into its eighteenth day. <\/p><\/div>\n
