CAUSE OF PALESTINE, THE CITY OF AL-QUDS AL-SHARIF <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\n
AND THE ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\n

The Thirty-third Session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers,<\/i> (Session of Harmony of Rights, Freedoms and Justice)<\/i>, held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan from 23 to 25 Jumada Awal, 1427H (19-21 June 2006), <\/i><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\n
Having considered <\/strong>the report of the Secretary-General on the Cause of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Document No. OIC\/33-2006\/PAL\/SG\/REP.); <\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
Proceeding from<\/strong> the principles and objectives enshrined in the Charter of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC);<\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
Based on<\/strong> the Islamic resolutions on the Cause of Palestine, the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the Arab-Israeli Conflict;<\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span>Recalling<\/strong><\/span> the resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council, particularly resolutions 242 (1967); 252 (1968); 338 (1973); 425 (1978); 465 (1980); 476 (1980); 478 (1980); 681 (1990); 1073 (1996); 1397 (2002); 1435 (2002); and 1515 (2003) and UN General Assembly resolution<\/span> <\/span>194 on refugees, as well as resolution ES-10-10 adopted by the 10<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> Extraordinary Emergency Session of the General Assembly in 2002 on illegal Israeli practices in the occupied East Jerusalem and the other occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the UN General Assembly resolution ES-10\/L15 on the apartheid wall which Israel is building on Palestinian land;<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
Referring <\/strong>to the resolutions adopted by the Commission on Human Rights relating to human rights violations in the occupied Arab and Palestinian territories, as well as the resolutions adopted by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the African Union (AU) and the League of Arab States;<\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
Affirming<\/strong> the Islamic States’ commitment to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region;<\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
Emphasizing<\/strong> that the Israeli policies, practices and expansionist designs threaten not only Arab states and the peace process, but also the Islamic countries at large and jeopardize international peace and security; <\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\n
Hailing<\/strong> the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their valiant “Intifada<\/i>” (uprising) aimed at recovering their inalienable national rights, as stipulated in all Arab and International resolutions. <\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
1.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>Reaffirms<\/strong><\/span> all the resolutions adopted by the Islamic Conferences and Al-Quds Committee concerning the Cause of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
2.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>Pays tribute <\/strong><\/span>to the Palestinian Legislative elections which, once again, bear evidence to the Palestinian people’s aptitude, capability and entitlement to self-determination and to the establishment of their own independent State on their national territories with Eastern Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, <\/span>invites<\/strong><\/span> the international community to respect the Palestinian people’s democratic choice, and <\/span>expresses<\/strong><\/span> its support to the Palestinian national authority and the Palestinian national dialogue aimed at affirming the Palestinian unity of rank and at reaching the most effective ways to achieve the emergence of the independent Palestinian State and a peace founded on the principle of two States in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Road Map. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\n
3.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>Affirms <\/strong><\/span>the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation of the Arab and Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif, the occupied Syrian Golan and the other occupied Lebanese territories. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n

4.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span> Affirms<\/strong><\/span> the necessity of reaching a just solution to the Palestinian cause in all its aspects on the basis of international law and legitimacy and the terms of reference agreed upon, embodied in the relevant UN resolutions, the principle of land for peace and the inadmissibility of acquisition of others’ territory by force, the Arab peace initiative and the Roadmap, such as to enable the Palestinian people to achieve their national independence and exercise their sovereignty in their Palestinian State and its capital Al-Quds Al-Sharif.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n

5.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span> Affirms<\/strong><\/span> the illegality of the Israeli laws and practices in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, aimed at annexing, judaizing and changing the demographic make-up of the city. <\/span>Demands<\/strong><\/span> States and international institutions and bodies to abide by international resolutions on the City of Al-Quds as an integral part of the Palestinian and Arab territories occupied in 1967; and <\/span>calls on<\/strong><\/span> them also to not participate in any meeting or activity that serves Israel’s objectives in establishing its occupation and annexation of the Holy City. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n

6.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span> Reaffirms <\/strong><\/span>the necessity of finding a just solution to the problem of Palestinian refugees in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly UN General Assembly resolution 194 (1948), and <\/span>reiterates<\/strong><\/span> its rejection of all forms of settlement, and emphasizes the United Nations’ responsibility towards the Palestinian cause and the continued role of the UNRWA in this respect.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n
<\/p><\/div>\n

7.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>Reaffirms<\/strong><\/span> its commitment to and support for the Arab peace initiative and the Roadmap, and <\/span>rejects<\/strong><\/span> the stands that run counter to the rules of international legitimacy and the terms of reference of the peace process enshrined in the two speeches of the Israeli Prime Minister and the American President, including those stands that attempt to anticipate the outcomes of negotiations on the final settlement issues. <\/span>Demands<\/strong><\/span> all States and international organizations to not recognize or deal with any guarantees or promises undermining the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and rewarding the Israeli occupation which seeks to impose its conditions through the policy of <\/span>
