Gaza Strip <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span><\/span>− <\/span>Household refuse is mounting up in the streets of the Gaza Strip as a result of one-day strikes in each of the four main Gaza municipalities (Gaza City, Jabalia Al Nazleh, Beit Lahia and Rafah) by workers in protest at their unpaid salaries. Workers in these municipalities are threatening to suspend work fully in water and sewage facilities in an escalation of action if their demands are not met. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

− <\/span>In total, 266 of the 333 families displaced by the sewage flooding in Um Al Nasser on 27 March remain in a nearby temporary camp set up by UNRWA. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

− <\/span>The BBC's Gaza-based correspondent Alan Johnston has been missing for more than five weeks (since 12 March). <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

− <\/span>Three homemade rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, one of which landed in a Palestinian area, a reduction on previous weeks. Three mortar shells were also fired towards the IDF Kissufim military base. No injuries or damage was reported. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

− <\/span>In four separate incidents, IDF vessels opened fire in the direction of Palestinian fishing boats west of Rafah, damaging two boats. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

− <\/span>Three Palestinians were killed and more than 19 others injured in internal violence this week, predominately during armed family feuds. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

West Bank: <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span><\/span>− <\/span>The IDF forced two teenagers to stand in front of an IDF jeep in Nablus and used them as human shields to prevent Palestinian stone throwers from stoning the jeep. A high number of search and arrest campaigns (126), particularly in the northern West Bank, were reported. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

−  <\/span>The strike of PA health care workers continues throughout the West Bank (since 16 February 2007) in protest at the non-regular payment of their salaries. In addition, approximately 80% of PA teachers in the northern West Bank, Bethlehem and Hebron governorates as well as teachers in Ramallah held a one-day strike. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

− <\/span>The offices of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) in Hebron City (Hebron) were raided by the IDF. Computers and files were confiscated. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
