APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER FOR JERUSALEM<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>Following is the text of a communication which Secretary-General Trygve Lie received today from the United Kingdom delegation:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"The High Commissioner confirms that he had appointed Mr. Evans as Municipal Commissioner for Jerusalem before his departure under the Jerusalem Municipal Government Order of 1948 and he also appointed Mr. Azcarate as Mr. Evans' deputy until his arrival."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Secretary-General received also the following communication from Pablo de Azcarate, Principal Secretary of the Security Council's Truce Commission in Palestine:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"Message reference Evans' appointment, myself deputy, received morning fifteenth from British sources confirmed same day American sources.  High Commissioner left Jerusalem morning fourteenth before my return Jerusalem from Amman."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
