Statement<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Bureau of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, during its meeting of 6 May 2006 in Tunis, discussed the question of the financial support for the Palestinian People.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

In this context, the Bureau of the EMPA reiterated the position adopted by the Assembly in its plenary session held on 26-27 March 2006 in Brussels which:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

–\t<\/span>Calls on the parties involved in the Middle East peace process to further their commitment to a peaceful two-state solution ; calls also for a renunciation of unilateral initiatives that are out of keeping with the Roadmap and <\/strong>international law, in particular based on electoral considerations.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

–\t<\/span>Calls on the international community to continue to support the Palestinian people, whose weakened economy cannot meet basic needs; is alarmed at the chaos that could result from lack of support and the illegal withholding of revenue to which it is entitled by law.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
