Establishing Palestinian state structures is a longstanding EU priority. The Conference in Support of Palestinian Civil Security and the Rule of Law to be held in Berlin on 24 June will be aimed at harnessing and bolstering international efforts to support the Palestinian security sector, in close cooperation with the Palestinian Authority.<\/p><\/div>\n

In this context, a press conference will be held on Monday, 23 June 2008 at 11.00. The speakers will be the EU Special Representative for the Middle East peace process, Marc Otte, the Director of the CPCC<\/span>1<\/span>, Kees Klompenhouwer, and the Head of the EU's police mission in the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS), Colin Smith.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

The briefing will provide an opportunity for an update on EUPOL COPPS' steadily developing activities and on the EU's broader efforts to develop Palestinian state structures, ahead of the Berlin Conference.<\/p><\/div>\n
