Over lunch, ministers discussed the Middle East peace process with a view to the 14 and 15 December meeting of the European Council, on the basis of a presentation by High Representative Javier Solana who visited the region recently. Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner informed ministers on the need to extend the Temporary International Mechanism for aid to the Palestinian people, which will expire at the end of the month. Ministers agreed that its operation should be extended for a further three months.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
