11. Protection of the Palestinian cultural and natural heritage<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Decision<\/u><\/strong><\/span>: 36 COM 11 <\/strong><\/span> <\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The World Heritage Committee,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>Having examined<\/u> Document WHC-12\/36.COM\/11,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>Recalling<\/u> Decision 35 COM 11<\/strong> adopted at its 35th session (UNESCO, 2011),<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>Takes note<\/u> of the information provided by the World Heritage Centre and welcomes<\/u> Palestine as a Party to the World Heritage Convention<\/i>;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

4.\t<\/span>Commends<\/u> the efforts of all professionals involved in preserving the Palestinian cultural and natural heritage despite the prevailing conditions;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

5.\t<\/span>Urges<\/u> all parties concerned with the safeguarding of heritage to take appropriate measures to prevent and avoid any damage to the Palestinian cultural and natural heritage, including the Jerusalem Southern Terraced Landscape, known as Battir<\/i>;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

6.\t<\/span>Encourages<\/u> the reactivation of the joint Israeli-Palestinian Technical Committee for Archaeology, in coordination with the concerned parties, as recommended at the 29th, 30th, 34th and 35th sessions of the World Heritage Committee;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

7.\t<\/span>Reiterates its request<\/u> that the World Heritage Centre and ICOMOS undertake a mission to assess the state of conservation of the main sites listed in the inventory and the Tentative List;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

8.\t<\/span>Invites<\/u> the World Heritage Centre to continue assisting the Palestinian institutions concerned in reinforcing their capacity in the protection, preservation and management of the Palestinian cultural and natural heritage. <\/p><\/div>\n
