SECRETARY-GENERAL STRONGLY SUPPORTS TWO-STATE SOLUTION FOR MIDDLE EAST<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The Spokesperson corrected reports in some Arab media earlier this week, attributing positions to the UN Secretariat, following the Secretariat’s 18 October briefing to the <\/span>Security Council<\/a> on the Middle East,  that are not accurate.
\n  <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

He said the Secretary-General continues to strongly support a negotiated two-State solution as called for in Security Council resolutions, which remains the stated preferred goal of the parties. Neither the Secretary-General nor the Secretariat has expressed any position regarding the future engagement of the Security Council, which is, of course, the prerogative of the Security Council itself. <\/p><\/div>\n
