UN MEDIATOR ON PALESTINE PROPOSES<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

AN ARMED GUARD FOR JERUSALEM<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

(The following has been received from the UN Press Officer with the UN Mediator in Rhodes)<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Count Folke Bernadotte, UN Mediator on Palestine, revealed today at a press conference prior to his departure for Tel Aviv, that he had already proposed through the Secretary-General of the United Nations that France, Belgium and the United States — the three members of the Truce Commission — provide a force of 1,000 armed guards for Jerusalem.  Count Bernadotte added that an additional force would be required for Haifa.<\/p><\/div>\n
