Highlights<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span> <\/span>From the 22 — 28 August, the Logistics Cluster facilitated the transportation of 1,535 pallets of Food, WASH and Shelter supplies, via 59 trucks on behalf of the humanitarian community, the highest weekly amount since the start of the operation.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>As of 28 August, more than 100 Logistics Cluster services requests have been received since the start of the Gaza Emergency Operation on 30 July 2014.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>On 27 August, for the first time since 2007, WFP successfully transported over 15,000 food parcels from Egypt to the Gaza Strip via Rafah crossing. The Logistics Cluster will now assess needs and the possibilities of whether the crossing can be used on a more permanent basis to support the humanitarian community transport relief items from Egypt into the Gaza Strip:<\/span> <\/u><\/span>http:\/\/www.wfp.org\/news\/news-release\/wfp-humanitarian-convov-delivers-food-gaza-through-egypt%E2%80%99s-rafah-crossing<\/u><\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Throughout the ceasefire, the Logistics Cluster continues to monitor the impact on logistics access constraints, and the security of humanitarian space for the transport and distribution of relief supplies.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Transport Services<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Since Logistics Cluster activation on the 30 July, 160 trucks transporting 4,175 pallets of humanitarian relief items including food, WASH and shelter supplies have been transported by the <\/span>•<\/span> <\/span>Logistics Cluster on behalf of the humanitarian community for distribution within the Gaza Strip.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>34 humanitarian organisations have been supported by the Logistics Cluster since activation on 30 July, including the Premiere Urgence-Aide Medicale International (PU-AMI), Hebron Food Trade Association and UNICEF Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Out of a total of 4,175 pallets, the Logistics Cluster has facilitated the transportation of over 2,360 pallets of private donations from local organisations and civil society groups for distribution within the Gaza Strip in the initial four weeks of the emergency response operation.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p><\/div>\n

•<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>Three dedicated warehouses have been secured by the Logistics Cluster for use as common storage for the humanitarian community inside the Gaza Strip. The warehouses are located in Middle Area\/Gaza City (800 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> capacity), Khan Younis (600 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> Capacity) and Rafah (450 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> Capacity) where an additional refrigerated warehouse (40 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> capacity) is available.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Five staging areas for cargo consolidation, palletisation and loading prior to transportation have been made available by the Logistics Cluster for use by the humanitarian community.
