This item has been included in the revised provisional agenda of the 192nd session of the Executive Board at the request of the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the Member States of the Arab Group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The corresponding explanatory note is attached hereto.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Since the Israeli Government decision to interrupt the UNESCO reactive monitoring mission to the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls, the Arab Group expressed the intention to add a new item on the agenda of the next session of the Executive Board. Moreover, during the 5th Special Session of the Executive Board held on the 4th of last July, the Arab Group issued a statement that reiterated this intention.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Recalling UNESCO Executive Board and World Heritage Committee decisions and resolutions; in particular paragraph 11 of Brasilia Decision 34 COM 7A.20 of the World Heritage Committee requesting a joint World Heritage Centre\/ICCROM\/ICOMOS reactive monitoring mission to the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls, and taking into account that since the adoption of the above-mentioned decision in 2010, it has never been implemented; the Arab Group requests to add a new item on the revised provisional agenda of the next session of the Board.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Arab Group recalls that an agreement has been reached at the 191st session of the Executive Board, namely:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u2022\u00a0the immediate dispatch, as of 19 May 2013, of the above-mentioned mission<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0the adjournment of the five Arab resolutions on the agenda of the 191st session till the 192nd session of the UNESCO Executive Board<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0the technical experts meeting on the Mughrabi Ascent to be held at UNESCO by 27 May 2013<\/div>\n
\n

The Arab side has fully respected and implemented the terms of the above mentioned agreement but Israel refused to implement ail the obligations and commitments it assumed before UNESCO regarding the dispatch of the UNESCO mission and the participation at the technical meeting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In order to ensure the faithful implementation of the Executive Board’ s own decisions, the Arab Group is adding this new item on the revised provisional agenda of the 192nd Executive Board session.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
