Highlights<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
\n

•<\/span> From 28 August — 4 September, the Logistics Cluster facilitated the transportation of 1,687 pallets of Food, WASH and Shelter supplies, via 63 trucks on behalf of 16 partners from the humanitarian community.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>During the reporting period 28 August — 04 September, the Logistics Cluster has received 21 requests for facilitating the transportation of humanitarian relief items including bottled water, hygiene kits and emergency school Non-Food Items (NFIs). 16 requests have been completed and the remaining five are being prepared for transportation in the coming days.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Due to the closure of Kerem Shalom crossing from Israel to the Gaza Strip from 10.40am on the 26 August, 10 trucks with 250 pallets of humanitarian relief items coordinated and transported by the Logistics Cluster were unable to cross. One truck containing 22 pallets of bread was permitted to cross via Erez crossing usually restricted to pedestrians and small vehicles to avoid deterioration of the perishable cargo and the other 9 trucks crossed Kerem Shalom the following day.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Transport Services<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Since activation on 30 July, the Logistics Cluster has:<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Facilitated the transportation of 5,996 pallets of humanitarian relief supplies via 225 trucks on behalf of humanitarian organisations for distribution within the Gaza Strip.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Supported 37 humanitarian organisations including Hebron Food Trade Association, Global Communities and UNICEF.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Facilitated the transportation of over 3,300 out of a total of 5,996 pallets of private donations from local organisations and civil society groups for distribution within the Gaza Strip.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Common Storage<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Five staging areas for cargo consolidation, palletisation and loading prior to transportation have been made available by the Logistics Cluster for use by the humanitarian community. The staging areas are located in Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus and Ashqelon.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Three dedicated warehouses have been secured by the Logistics Cluster for use as common storage for the humanitarian community inside the Gaza Strip. The warehouses are located in Middle Area\/Gaza City (800 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> capacity), Khan Younis (600 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> Capacity) and Rafah (450 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> Capacity) where an additional refrigerated warehouse (40 m<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> capacity) is available.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>The Logistics Cluster warehouse located in Middle Area\/Gaza City was used by WFP for the storage of 25,000 food parcels, 300 mt of wheat flour and 111 mt of vegetable oil prior to distribution last week.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Coordination\/Information Management\/GIS<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Since activation on 30 July, the Logistics Cluster has:<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Held six weekly Logistics Cluster Coordination Meetings with partners attending in Jerusalem and linked via live video to the Logistics Cluster Meeting in Gaza City. The next Coordination Meeting will be held in Ramallah on the 09 September.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Shared 37 information products including meeting minutes, daily and weekly Situation Updates, Service Request Guidance and Logistics Cluster Concept of Operations (ConOps) via the dedicated Logistics Cluster mailing list and Gaza Operations page on the Logistics Cluster website:<\/span> <\/u><\/span>http:\/\/logcluster.org\/ops\/gaza14a<\/u><\/a> <\/u><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Provided GIS mapping support, including publication of ConOps, Access Constraints maps and maps upon request for the humanitarian community.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Coordination with relevant authorities to facilitate the movement of humanitarian relief from the West Bank and Israel to the Gaza Strip.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

•<\/span> <\/span>Consolidation of information on crossing points and liaising with relevant authorities to ease bottlenecks and investigate possible solutions to delays.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
