\t<\/span>Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, in Rome for meetings, replying to questions on Israeli military action in Syria, said:<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>"The fight against terrorism, in which the EU is fully engaged, has to take place within the rules of international law.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In a crisis area like the Middle East, it is particularly important that any actions taken are conducive to lowering, not increasing tension.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The issue is now in the hands of the UN Security Council, which I welcome. We now have to wait for the outcome of discussions in New York."\n<\/p><\/div>\n
