\t<\/span>In a letter dated 18 September 1986 addressed to the President of the Security Council (<\/span>S\/18353<\/a><\/a>) the representative of France requested that an urgent meeting of the Security Council be convened to consider the situation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), in the light of the Secretary-General's report on the subject (<\/span>S\/18348<\/a>).<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>At its 2706th meeting, held on 19 September 1986, on the basis of the above request, having before it also the special report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (S\/18348) dated 18 September 1986, the Security Council resumed its consideration of the item.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>In the course of the meeting, the President, with the consent of the Council, invited the representative of Israel, at his request, to participate in the discussion without the right to vote.<\/p><\/div>\n
