The Chief of Staff of UNTSO, Major-General Ensio Siilasvuo, has submitted the following report on incidents observed by United Nations military observers and complaints received from the parties on 1 November 1972:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Israel-Syria sector <\/u>OP 1<\/u>\/ reports:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(a)\t<\/span>OP Two: Between 0511 2<\/u>\/ and 0520 sporadic machine-gun fire (confirmed by OP Winter), between 1210 and 1211 machine-gun fire (shooting at herder and cattle) and between l425 and l442 sporadic machine-gun and small-arms fire, all by Israel forces.<\/p><\/div>\n

(b)\t<\/span>OP Romeo:  Between 0517 and 0522 sporadic machine-gun and small-arms fire and between 0546 and 0552 sporadic machine-gun fire by Israel forces.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(c)\t<\/span>OP Yoke: Between 0823 and 0827 machine-gun fire by Israel forces and between 0842 and 0843 machine-gun fire by Syrian forces.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(d)\t<\/span>OP Five: Between 1237 and 1308 sporadic machine-gun and small-arms fire by Israel forces (confirmed by OP Winter).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(e)\t<\/span>OP Six: Between 1345 and machine-gun fire by Israel forces.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Israel-Lebanon sector<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.   OP reports on ground activity:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

OP Ras : Between 4417 and 1558 Israel forces personnel, armoured personnel carriers, trailer and vehicle reoccupied position at approximate MR 1907-2749 north of border pillar 19.  Between 0804 and 0831 10 Israel forces personnel crossed and recrossed the ADL (armistice demarcation line) at approximate MR 1951-2775.  United Nations military observers were unable to determine depth of penetration owing to terrain (vegetation).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span><\/i>OP reports on air activity:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

OP Khiam:  Between 1240 and 1241 two Israel forces jet aircraft, south-east to north-west, were first observed,east of OP and last observed north of OP.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>Complaints by the parties:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Complaints have been received from Lebanon alleging that<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(a)\t<\/span>On 30 October between 1020 and 1035 two Israel forces jet aircraft overflew the Lebanese regions of Aadeisse (approximate MR 2010-2955), Hasbaiya (approximate MR 2147-3115), Rachaiya El Ouadi (approximate MR 2285-3220) and Marjayoun (approximate MR 2056-3074).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(b)\t<\/span>On 30 October between 1500, and 1520 two Israel forces jet aircraft, overflew the Lebanese regions of Waqpura (approximate MR 1629-2805,) Sour(approximate MR 169-297), Lebanese territorial waters and Naqoura in two passes.<\/p><\/div>\n

Only complaint (b) was confirmed by United Nations observation for that portion within observation range of OP .(see S\/7930\/Add.1785).<\/p><\/div>\n
