\t<\/span>At the 1448th meeting, on 8 September 1968, the President read the following statement which was to be communicated to the Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization and the parties:<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"The Security Council, having met urgently to consider the item on its agenda contained in document S\/Agenda\/1448\/Rev.1 [The situation in the Middle East: Letter dated 2 September 1968 from the Acting Permanent Representative of Israel addressed to the President of the Security Council (S\/8794);<\/i>1<\/u>\/ Letter dated 8 September 1968 from the Permanent Representative of Israel addressed to the President of the Security Council (S\/8805);<\/i>2<\/u>\/ Letter dated 8 September 1968 from the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Republic addressed to the President of the Security Council (S\/8806)<\/i>3<\/u>\/],<\/i> having heard the reports of General Odd Bull presented by the Secretary-General, and having heard the statements of the representatives of Israel and the United Arab Republic, deeply regrets the loss of life, and requires the parties strictly to observe the cease-fire called for by the Security Council's resolutions."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
