Note verbale dated 23 October 1978 from the Permanent Representative of <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Senegal to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Senegal to the United Nations presents his compliments to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and, on the instructions of his Government, has the honour to transmit to him herewith the text of the Declaration of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the States members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, requesting that he kindly have the text published as an official document of the General Assembly under agenda items 30 and 31.<\/p><\/div>\n

ANNEX<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Declaration published on 11 October 1978 by the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the States members of the Organization <\/u>of the Islamic Conference<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic countries, during their extraordinary meeting held in New York, have discussed the question of Palestine the question, of Jerusalem and the problem of the Middle East.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Committed to the principles and the resolutions of the conferences of countries they have reaffirmed once again:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(a)\t<\/span>Their determination to uphold the Islamic and Arab rights over Jerusalem, Palestine and the occupied Arab territories;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(b)\t<\/span>The necessity of the withdrawal of Israel from those territories.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

They have reiterated their will to work for the restoration of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and their support of the PLO as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\tThey further proclaimed their commitment:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n

(a)\t<\/span>To implement a comprehensive settlement which guarantees those rights;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(b)\t<\/span>To avoid all differences between members of one and the same family;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(c)\t<\/span>To consolidate Arab and Islamic solidarity in accordance with those aims.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the conference of Islamic countries reiterate their firm determination to defend Arab and Islamic rights over Jerusalem and their commitment to all these principles and resolutions.<\/p><\/div>\n
