\nprogrammes of the Turin Centre, which are likely to\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\tfellowships had recently been awarded to enable Palestinians from
\nthe occupied territories to take a training course in industrial
\nmanagement in the second half of 1985.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t
\nhas followed up resolution WHA36.27, adopted by the World
\nHealth Assembly at its thirty-sixth session in May 1983,
\nregarding the establishment of three health centres in the
\noccupied Arab territories. WHO input will consist of support
\nto training.  supply of equipment and essential consultant
\nservices. The full responsibility for technical supervision
\nof the primary health care research work, which will be
\nundertaken by each centre, will rest with WHO.  The overall
\nobjective of the work will be to support health systems
\nresearch that will be used in providing the entire local
\npopulation with primary health care, using the most
\nappropriate technology. There has been steady progress in the
\nfollowing health centres:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t
\nCentre in Primary Health Care, work is under way at the
\nHealth Service Research Centre, where specific research
\nprojects have already started. These projects will
\ninclude an evaluation of a plan for expanded primary
\nhealth care in the villages of the area; evaluative
\nstudies of the practices and outcome of the work of
\ntraditional birth attendants as a component of primary
\nhealth care;  continuation of previous studies of growth
\nand development of infants and children; evaluative
\nstudies on the effects of the intensive programme of
\nimmunization against tetanus neonatorum and adult
\ntetanus; evaluation of the routine immunization
\nprogramme for the prevention of rubella; a study to
\nassess the utilization and impact of oral rehydration
\ntherapy in primary health care and in hospital centres;
\nbasic epidemiological studies of acute respiratory
\ndiseases and of villages in the area, in the
\nepidemiology of hepatitis and of brucellosis, as well as
\nstudies related to nutrition, breast-feeding and
\nanaemia;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t
\nInformation Centre of the health services of Gaza will
\nalso be designated a WHO Collaborating Centre. It is
\nanticipated that a costed work plan for specific
\nactivities will be presented to the authorities
\nconcerned in the very near future;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t
\nwhich will be primarily on health manpower research in
\nrelation to primary health care, wild be designated at<\/p>\n

from UNICEF general resources, which have already been
\napproved and allocated by the UNICEF Executive Board for<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t94. April to 19 May 1985, the Commission on Human Settlements adopted
\nresolution 8\/9, entitled "Activities for the International Year of
\nShelter for the Homeless in the occupied Palestinian territories",
\n9\/ in which it requested the Executive Director to prepare "a
\nstudy on the housing of the Palestinian population in the occupied
\nterritories in co-ordination with the Palestine Liberation
\nOrganization and concerned United Nations agencies". The Executive
\nDirector was requested to submit the study to the Commission at
\nits ninth session. Pursuant to the above request, Habitat has
\nrecruited two consultants to assist with the preparation of the
\nstudy, which will, inter alia, include a review of the current
\nhuman settlement situation in the occupied Palestinian territories
\nand proposals for a comprehensive housing programme for the
\nPalestinian population in those territories on the occasion of the
\nInternational Year of Shelter for the Homeless (1987).\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\nInternational Labour Conference (June 1985), the Director-General
\nhad expressed the hope that greater resources would be made
