1.\t<\/span>In its decision 40\/432 on Israeli economic practices in the occupied Palestinian and other Arab territories, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to prepare a report on the financial and trade practices of the Israeli occupation authorities in the occupied Palestinian and other Arab territories.  The general Assembly invited the Secretary-General to utilize the services of competent United Nations bodies in preparing that report.  The Secretary-General was requested to submit the report to the Assembly at its forty-first session through the Economic and Social Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>As part of its work programme for 1986-1987, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is preparing a study of the financial sector in the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.  The study, which is being carried out in association with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), will deal with the financial and fiscal systems in the occupied territories, with particular reference to Israeli policies affecting them.  The study is expected to be completed by the end of 1986 and will be reported to the Trade and Development Board in 1987.<\/p><\/div>\n

3.\t<\/span>The UNCTAD\/ESCWA study will cover much of the subject-matter of the report requested by the General Assembly in its decision 40\/432.  The Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly may therefore wish to defer the consideration of decision 40\/432 until the substantive study on the subject now in preparation is available and has been considered by the Trade and Development Board.<\/p><\/div>\n
