Letter dated 3 October 1985 from the Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the text of a statement issued by the Brazilian Government on 1 October concerning the attack by Israel against the installations of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Tunis.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Brazilian Government would appreciate the circulation of the aforementioned text as an official document of the General Assembly, under agenda items 33 and 38, and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

Statement issued by the Brazilian Government on 1 October 1985 <\/u>
\nconcerning the attack by Israel against the headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Tunis<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Brazilian Government receives with profound consternation the news about the Israeli attack against the PLO installations in Tunis, the organization which we recognize as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>There is no justification for such acts, which profoundly jeopardize the efforts of the international community to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.  Apart from the suffering caused to innocent people, they serve only to increase tension, exacerbate spirits and make more distant the day when all the nations in the Middle East will be able to coexist peacefully.<\/p><\/div>\n
