\t<\/span>I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the text of the Declaration concerning recent developments in the Middle East adopted by the non-aligned countries at a meeting held on 10 October 1973 at United Nations Headquarters.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have the text of this Declaration distributed as an official document of the General Assembly and the Security Council,<\/p><\/div>\n

Declaration of the non-aligned countries on recent <\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

developments in the Middle East<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The heads of the delegations of the non-aligned countries, meeting at United Nations Headquarters on Wednesday, 10 October 1973, reviewed recent developments in the situation in the Middle East.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>They condemn Israel's aggression against Egypt and Syria and express to those two countries their full support for their just struggle and their heroic efforts to.liberate their occupied territories.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>      Recalling the resolution on the Middle East adopted by the Algiers summit conference, they demand the withdrawal of Israel from all the occupied Arab territories as a prerequisite for any search for a solution to the Middle East crisis.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The heads of the delegations of the non-aligned countries condemn the indiscriminate bombing of Syria's civilian population by Israel, bombing which has caused the death of hundreds of innocent civilians – men, women and children including foreign diplomats, United Nations officials and members of their families.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>They denounce in particular the fact that Israel has made war on the civilian population and they condemn these barbarous acts, which give an already painful conflict a dimension of inhumanity which the international community cannot tolerate.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The heads of the delegations of the non-aligned countries have decided to maintain close contact with the representatives of Egypt and. Syria with a view to determining what action they will have to take at a later stage in conformity with the policy established by their Heads of State at the Algiers Conference.<\/p><\/div>\n
