CONSIDERATION<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:center;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Addendum<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General is submitting the following summary statement.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The list of items of which the Security Council is seized is contained in document S\/13033 of 9<i>&nbsp;<\/i>January 1979.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">During the week ending 25 August 1979, the Security Council took action on the following item:<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The question of the exercise by the Palestinian people of its inalienable rights (see S\/11935\/Add.23, S\/11935\/Add.24, S\/11935\/Add.25, S\/11935\/Add.26, S\/l2269\/Add.43, S\/13033\/Add.25 and S\/13033\/Add.29)<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The Security Council gave further consideration to the item at its 2l6lst to 2l63rd meetings on 23 and 24 August 1979.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition to the representatives invited previously, the President, with the consent of the Council, invited the representatives of Afghanistan, Cuba, Iraq, the Lao People&#39;s Democratic Republic, Morocco, Senegal, Turkey and Yugoslavia, at their request, to participate in the discussion without the right to vote.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">At the 2l62nd meeting on 24 August, the representative of Senegal, Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, introduced the following draft resolution sponsored by his delegation (S\/13514):<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>The Security Council,<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Having considered<\/u>&nbsp;the report of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Having heard the representatives of the parties concerned, including the Palestine Liberation Organization,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Convinced<\/u>&nbsp;that the question of Palestine is the core of the conflict in the Middle East,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Reaffirming<\/u>&nbsp;the urgent necessity of the establishment of a just and lasting peace through a comprehensive settlement based on full respect for the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations, as well as for its resolutions concerning the problem of the Middle East and the question of Palestine,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Expressing its concern<\/u>&nbsp;over the continuing deterioration of the situation in the Middle East, and deeply deploring Israel&#39;s persistence in its occupation of the Arab territories, including Jerusalem, and its refusal to implement the relevant United Nations resolutions,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Reaffirming<\/u>&nbsp;the principle of the inadmissibility of acquisition of territories by the threat or use of force,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><u>Reaffirming also<\/u>&nbsp;its resolutions on the Middle East and the question of Palestine, particularly 237 (1967), 242 (1967), 252 (1968), 338 (1973) and other relevant resolutions,<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;<u>Affirms :<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">(a)&nbsp;&nbsp;That the Palestinian people should be enabled to exercise its inalienable rights of self-determination, national independence and sovereignty in Palestine, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">(b) The right of Palestinian refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours to do so and the right of those choosing not to return to receive compensation for their property, in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and General Assembly resolutions, in particular, resolution 194 (1ll) of 11 December<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New, serif, monospace;color:#000000;padding-bottom:5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;<u>Decides<\/u>&nbsp;that the provisions contained in paragraph 1 should be taken fully into account in all international efforts and conferences organized within the framework of the United Nations for the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div
