\t<\/span>On 19 June 1990, following consultations, the President issued the following statement on behalf of the members of the Council:1<\/u>\/<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"The members of the Security Council strongly deplore the incident, which occurred on 12 June 1990 in a clinic belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, located near to Shati' camp in Gaza, in which several innocent Palestinian women and children were wounded by a tear-gas grenade thrown by an Israeli officer.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"They are dismayed to find that the penalty imposed on that officer has been commuted.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"They reaffirm that the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, is applicable to the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967, including Jerusalem, and request the High Contracting Parties to ensure respect for the Convention.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"The members of the Security Council call upon Israel to abide by its obligations under that Convention."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
