\t<\/span>Addendum<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General is submitting the following summary statement.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The list of items of which the Security Council is seized is contained in documents S\/2000\/40 of 15 February 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.1 of 21 February 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.5 of 28 March 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.8 of 14 April 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.9 of 19 April 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.15 of 23 May 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.28 of 31 July 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.39 of 13 October 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.42 of 3 November 2000, S\/2000\/40\/Add.44 of 17 November 2000 and S\/2000\/40\/Add.45 of 24 November 2000.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>During the week ending 2 December 2000, the Security Council took action on the following items:<\/p><\/div>\n

The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question  <\/strong>(see<\/i> S\/2000\/40\/Add.39, 44 and 46)<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4233rd meeting, held in private on 27 November 2000 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the letter dated 22 November from the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council (S\/2000\/1111).<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>At the close of the meeting, the following communiqué was issued by the Secretary-General in accordance with rule 55 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Council:<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>“At its 4233rd meeting, held in private on 27 November 2000, the Security Council considered the item entitled ‘The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question’.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>“In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council’s prior consultations, the Security Council met with the Ministerial Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>“The members of the Council and the Ministerial Committee had a constructive discussion.”<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4234th meeting, held in private on 27 November 2000 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>At the close of the meeting, the following communiqué was issued by the Secretary-General in accordance with rule 55 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Council:<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4235th meeting, held on 27 November 2000 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (S\/2000\/1103).<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The President drew attention to a draft resolution (S\/2000\/1124), that had been prepared in the course of the Council’s prior consultations.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council proceeded to vote on draft resolution S\/2000\/1124, and adopted it unanimously as resolution 1328 (2000) (for the text, see S\/RES\/1328 (2000); to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Fifty-fifth Year, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 2000<\/i>).<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The President stated that, following consultations of the Council, he had been authorized to make a statement on behalf of the Council and read out the text of that statement (for the text, see S\/PRST\/2000\/36 to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Fifty-fifth Year, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 2000<\/i>).<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4236th meeting, held on 28 November 2000 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council’s prior consultations, the President, with the consent of the Council, extended an invitation under rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure to Sergio Vieira de Mello, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Transitional Administrator for East Timor.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4237th meeting, held on 28 November 2000, in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>The President, with the consent of the Council, invited the representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at his request, to participate in the discussion of the item without the right to vote.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council’s prior consultations, the President, with the consent of the Council, extended an invitation under rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure to Carolyn McAskie, Emergency Relief Coordinator ad interim, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.<\/p><\/div>\n

The situation in Guinea-Bissau<\/strong> (see<\/i> S\/1998\/44\/Add.44 and 51; S\/1999\/25\/Add.13; and S\/2000\/40\/Add.12)<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4238th and 4239th meetings, held on 29 November 2000 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations. There were one suspension and one resumption of the 4238th meeting.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>At the 4238th meeting, the President, with the consent of the Council, invited the representatives of the Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and Senegal, at their request, to participate in the discussion without the right to vote.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council’s prior consultations, the President, with the consent of the Council, extended an invitation under rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure to Callisto Madavo, Vice-President of the World Bank.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In response to the request contained in a letter dated 27 November 2000 from the Permanent Representative of Mozambique to the United Nations (S\/2000\/1130), the President, with the consent of the Council, extended an invitation under rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure to Dulce Maria Pereira, Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries.<\/p><\/div>\n
