43\/49.  Report of the Committee on Relations with the Host Country<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The General Assembly,<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling <\/i><\/span>its <\/span>resolution 43\/48 of 30 November 1988<\/a>, in which, <\/span>inter alia, <\/i><\/span>it urged the host country to abide scrupulously by the provisions of the Agreement between the United Nations and the United States of America regarding the Headquarters of the United Nations, dated 26 June 1947 <\/span>1<\/u><\/span>\/ and to reconsider and reverse its decision to deny the visa requested for Mr. Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization,<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Having considered <\/i>the report of the Secretary-General of 1 December 1988 2<\/u>\/ in which it is stated that the host country informed him that it saw "no basis for changing our decision",<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Affirming <\/i>the right of persons mentioned in section 11 of the Agreement to enter the United States of America without any impediment for the purpose of transit to or from the headquarters district,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Deplores <\/i>the failure of the host country to respond favourably to the request of the General Assembly contained in its resolution 43\/48;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Decides, <\/i>in the present compelling circumstances and without prejudice to normal practice, to consider the question of Palestine, item 37 of the agenda of the forty-third session of the General Assembly, in plenary, at the United Nations Office at Geneva during the period from 13 to 15 December 1988;<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>3.\t<\/span>Requests <\/i>the Secretary-General to make the necessary arrangements for the implementation of the present resolution, and authorizes him to adjust the schedule of meetings at the United Nations Office at Geneva during those days as required.<\/p><\/div>\n
