    Held in private in the Security Council Chamber at Headquarters on<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Friday, 10 November 2000, at 10.40 a.m.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>In accordance with rule 55 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the following communiqué was issued by the Secretary-General in place of a verbatim record:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t    “At its 4217th meeting, held in private on 10 November 2000, the Security Council considered the item entitled ‘The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question’.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t    “In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council’s prior consultations, and with the consent of the Council, the President extended an invitation to His Excellency Mr. Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, President of the Palestinian Authority.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t    “The members of the Council and His Excellency President Yasser Arafat had a constructive discussion.”\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
