A<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The General Assembly<\/u>,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/u> its resolutions 3263 (XXIX) of 9 December 1974, 3474 (XXX) of 11 December 1975, 31\/71 of 10 December 1976, 32\/82 of 12 December 1977, 33\/64 of 14 December 1978, 34\/77 of 11 December 1979 and 35\/147 of 12 December 1980 on the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Secretary-General to transmit General Assembly resolution 35\/147 to the General Assembly at its second special session devoted to disarmament;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Decides<\/u> to include in the provisional agenda of its thirty-seventh session the item entitled "Establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the region of the Middle East".<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

B<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The General Assembly<\/u>,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/u> its resolutions concerning the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling also<\/u> the recommendations in the Final Document of the Tenth Special Session of the General Assembly for the establishment of such a zone in the Middle East consistent with paragraphs 60 to 63, in particular paragraph 63 (d) thereof,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling further<\/u> Security Council resolution 487 (1981) of 19 June 1981,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Taking into consideration<\/u> the resolution adopted on 12 June 1981 by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency  and resolution GC(XXV)\/RES\/381 adopted on 26 September 1981 by the General Conference of the Agency,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling further<\/u> the report of the Secretary-General concerning Israeli nuclear armament,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Realizing that<\/u> adherence to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons by all Parties of the region will be conducive to a speedy establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Deeply concerned<\/u> that the future of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in the region has been gravely endangered by the attack carried out by Israel, which is not a party to the Treaty, on the nuclear installations of Iraq, which is a party to that Treaty,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Considers that<\/u> the Israeli military attack on the Iraqi nuclear installations adversely affects the prospects of the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the region;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Declares that<\/u> it is imperative, in this respect, that Israel place forthwith all its nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>3.     \t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Secretary-General to transmit the present resolution to the General Assembly at its second special session devoted to disarmament.<\/p><\/div>\n
